Keyboard Shortcuts

Most keyboard shortcuts are indicated on the menus: this list is a selection of the most useful.

F1 Open Help Notes (context sensitive)
F6 Switch to Compact mode
F7 Switch to Regular mode
F8 Switch to Organize mode
F12 Minimize Bookmark Buddy
Alt+F4 Exit Bookmark Buddy
F5 Show/hide Note window (without activating it)
Shift+F5 Extend/contract Note window
Alt+F5 Activate Note window
Ctrl+L Fill out last-active log-in form
Ctrl+O Open bookmark**
Ctrl+M Open marked bookmarks
Ctrl+E Fetch bookmark from frontmost web browser window
Ctrl+N Add a new bookmark to your bookmark list
Ctrl+Shift+N Enter a bookmark to open in a new browser window
Ctrl+Shift+B Open a blank browser window
Ctrl+S Save changes
Alt+F Make Find box active and select search text
Ctrl+F Start/cancel search
F3 Highlight next search match
Shift+F3 Highlight previous search match
Ctrl+Shift+F Open Advanced Search window (also right-click on Search button)
Ctrl+click Mark/unmark clicked item
Ctrl+X Mark/unmark selected item
Ctrl+Shift+click Mark/unmark all items between the currently selected and the clicked item
Ctrl+A Mark/unmark all items in active* list level
Ctrl+Shift+C Unmark all marked items
Ctrl+V Move marked items in active* list level
Ctrl+Down Sort items in active* list level
Ctrl+B Make selected item bold/unbold
Ctrl+C Copy selected bookmark’s address to clipboard
Ctrl+Shift+L Copy log-in name to clipboard
Ctrl+Shift+P Copy log-in password to clipboard
Ctrl+D Insert current date at text cursor (in Notes box)
Alt+C or Alt+1 Make Category list box or menu active
Alt+S or Alt+2 Make Subcategory list box or menu active
Alt+B or Alt+3 Make Bookmark list box active
Tab Advance to next list or text box
Shift+Tab Return to previous list or text box
Cursor Right Advance to next list box
Cursor Left Advance to previous list box
Alt+A Move cursor to bookmark address field
Alt+N Move cursor to note field
Alt+L Move cursor to log-in field
Alt+P Move cursor to password field
Alt+R Move cursor to rating field
Alt+K Move cursor to keywords field<
Return/Enter With caret in the search box: Start/cancel search;
With bookmark title list in focus: Open bookmark**;
With caret in an edit box and Add highlighted: Add bookmark/title.
With caret in an edit box and Done highlighted: Finish editing and move focus to search box.

Ctrl+<digit> Switch to a different bookmark list (see File menu)

Ctrl+Tab Switch to bookmark list containing marked items or to previously open list

Ctrl+Alt+P Open preferences

*The active list level is the list box that responds to keyboard input. If the window style is standard Windows, this is indicated by a dashed line around the selected item in the list. With the custom window style, this is indicated by a red (by default) border line around the list box.

**When you open a bookmark, you can change the default behavior by holding down either the Shift or Alt key as follows:

Hold down Shift key: Open bookmark with the frontmost/new window default switched.

Hold down Alt key: Open bookmark then minimize Bookmark Buddy (or, if auto-minimize is set, do not minimize Bookmark Buddy).
