Options Tab
The Options tab is where you can customize your Adbegone experience.
Action Level
- HIGH
This will cause Adbegone to stop nearly all popup ads from displaying on your computer when you are surfing the Internet. This setting automatically assumes that you want no popup ads to display unless you have specifically entered their website in your WhiteList
- LOW
The LOW setting will cause Adbegone to ONLY block popup windows from websites listed in your BlackList.
Test Adbegone
Clicking this button will cause Adbegone to open a web page that will open many popup windows. If Adbegone is running in HIGH Action level, you will notice all of the popups are blocked.
General Options
Clear Statistics each time Adbegone starts.
If this box is checked, Adbegone will clear the statistical data each time you reboot your computer.
Animate cursor wne popups are detected
If this box is checked, Adbegone will change your cursor to a crosshair for a moment each time it blocks a popup. This is useful because without the understanding that a popup is being blocked, it may appear that a link you have clicked on it not working. When you actually want such a popup to display, you can now easily recognize that you should hold down the CTRL key while clicking to cause Adbegone to ignore the popup.
Animate tray icon when popups are detected
If this box is checked, Adbegone will diaplay an animated icon in your System Tray for a moment each time it blocks a popup. This is useful because without the understanding that a popup is being blocked, it may appear that a link you have clicked on it not working. When you actually want such a popup to display, you can now easily recognize that you should hold down the CTRL key while clicking to cause Adbegone to ignore the popup.
Allow popups when Adbegone senses I have clicked a link
With this box checked, Adbegone will attempt to intelligently sense if popup windows are being generated from a web page, or if you are merely clicking on a link that you want to display in a popup window. With this option checked, some unwanted popups might get through, but they will be drastically reduced. The great benefit to this option is that it allows to take a more passive role in surfing the Internet, while offering a strong amount of protection against popups.
Always allow SSL (HTTPS) websites top open popups
When checked, this option will always cause Adbegone to ignore popups generated from a secure web server. The reason behind this is that many online shopping carts are designed to show parts of your order in popup windows.
Save/Cancel Changes
'Save' will save all of your Options changes, and 'Cancel' will ignore them.
Play the follwing sound each time a popup is detected
In this section you can decide which sound (IF ANY) Adbegone will play when a popup is blocked, further letting you know when it is working. If you desire, you may browse for a WAV sound of your own.
