Compacting Database

Compacting removes “holes” in the database left behind by deletions and may speed things up by re-creating the database key file.

To compact the database:

Click the Housekeeping | Compact Database menu sequence.

Making and Restoring a Database Backup

To make a backup:

  1. Use the File | Back Up Database menu sequence. The standard Windows “Save As” screen will appear.
  2. If you set a default backup path the Save As screen should show the proper backup location. If it doesn’t, click the down arrow at the right end of the Save In box and move to the correct location.
  3. Click [Save].

To restore a backup:

  1. Use the File | Restore Saved Database menu sequence. Keeper will warn you that it’s about to overwrite your current database. Click [Yes]. The standard Windows “Open” screen will appear.
  2. If you set a default backup path the Open screen should show your backed-up database. If it doesn’t, click the down arrow at the right end of the Look In box and move to the correct location.
  3. Click [Open].
