File Menu
New
Creates a new Folder.
It's better to create a new Folder than to dump all your information into one Folder. By splitting your information you'll avoid very large Folders that consume a lot of memory and are slow loading. It might also be more informative to create a Folder with a name to match the information in it.
To do so:
- Choose New from the File menu.
- Type a Folder Namen the Type a New Folder Name box.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Cancel button to exit Folder Manager.
The new Folder is created and immediately loaded into InfoRecall, ready for your use.
An InfoRecall data Folder consistes of 3 files called a data set:
- The Data file (.dat). This holds the main data
- The Index file (.idx). This holds the index of the data in the .dat Folder.
- The Tree file (.tre). This file holds all the names of documents in the data Folder.
Open
When the Document Toolbar is in view, Folders can be open by using the FOLDER BOX on the left side of the Documentbar.
To Open a Folder:
- Click on the arrow to the right of the Folder Box
- Click on a Folder from the list of Folders
When the Document Toolbar is not in view Folders can be open by using Open from ther File menu.
To Open a Folder:
- Choose Open from the File menu.
- Locate a Folder in Folder Manager List box.
- Double click on the Folder or click on it and click the View button.
The Folder will be opened and all the documents will be shown in the Document Tree.
Note: Data Folders can be anywhere, for instance you might want to keep a number of Folders in some where else in your computer or on another computer or on a network. To access these Folders you must Swap Source Folders. InfoRecall can quickly switch back and forth between two Source Folders by using Swap Source Folders from the Tools menu.
Important: You can only open Folders that are in your Source Folder. To open Folders else where: Swap Source Folders
Close
Closes all the documents in the currently open Folder and closes the Folder.
If Autosave is set and if there are unsaved Documents, InfoRecall will save them automatically. If Autosave is not set then InfoRecall will ask you to save each unsaved Documents.
Folder Manager
Folder Manager pulls all the file management functions together in one dialog box and enables a you to Create, Copy, Move, Rename and Delete files quickly and efficiently.
Folder Manager displays all the files in a data Folder along with the date they were created, the date they were last accessed, their file size and the number of documents in each file.

Rename: It may be necessary from time to time to rename InfoRecall files to reflect their contents more clearly.
To do so:
- Choose Folder Manager from the File menu.
- Click a Folder Name.
- Click the Rename button.
- Make any changes or type a new name in the Rename dialog box.
- Click the OK button.
The change will be reflected in the Folder Manager List. and the Folder Box.
Copy/Move: InfoRecall is increasingly used on more than one computer. The ability to Copy or Move data files along with Synchronizing them is very important.
To do so:
- Choose Folder Manager from the File menu.
- Select files to Copy/Move.
- Click the Copy or Move button.
- Select a folder to Copy or Move files to.
- Click OK.
