Network Configuration

Network Configuration

This option displays detailed information about the installed network adapters.
The Information displayed is related to the computer to which HARDiNFO 2004 was connected, it may be the local computer or a network remote computer.

Shared Resources Information

The Shared Resources Information is displayed in a table under the following items:

  • Resource Name: This item displays the shared resource name.
  • Description: This item displays the group description.
  • Shared Path: This item displays the shared path location.

Network Adapters Configuration

The Network Adapters Configuration information is displayed in the following items for the selected network adapter:

  • Network Adapter: This item represents the selected network adapter for which the information is displayed in the items below.
  • Description: This item displays the description of the selected network adapter.
  • Service Name: This item displays service/driver name of the network adapter.
  • IP Address: This item displays the IP Address.
  • IP Subnet Mask: This item displays the IP Subnet Mask.
  • MAC Address: This item displays the MAC address of the network adapter.
  • Default Gateway: This item displays the default IP gateway.
  • DNS Domain: This item displays the DNS (Domain Name Server) name.
  • DNS Host Name: This item displays the Host name used to identify the local computer for authentication by some utilities. Other TCP/IP-based utilities can use this value to acquire the name of the local computer. Host names are stored on DNS servers in a table that maps names to IP addresses for use by DNS.
  • DNS Server: This item displays the DNS server name/address.
  • IPX Protocol Status: This item displays the IPX Protocol status (enabled or disabled).
  • IPX Address: This item displays the IPX address.
  • IPX Media Type: This item displays the IPX media type (Ethernet, Token Ring, etc.).
  • IPX Network Number: This item displays the IPX network number.
  • WINS Enable LMHosts Lookup: If this is enabled, local lookup files are used. Lookup files will contain a map of IP addresses to host names. If they exist on the local system, they will be found in %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc.
  • WINS Lookup File: This item displays the Path to a WINS lookup file on the local system. This file will contain a map of IP addresses to host names. If the file specified in this property is found, it will be copied to the %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc folder of the local system.
  • WINS Primary Server: This item displays the IP address for the primary WINS server.
  • WINS Secondary Server: This item displays the IP address for the secondary WINS server.
