Text Integration
Once you have translated the text segments in the Caterpillar text file you are ready to integrate it back into the web pages. Click the large Integration button and browse for your translated Caterpillar text file ( From: ).
Next choose the To: folder where you wish the translated web pages to be saved. This folder will be created during integration. If subfolders were included during extraction then Caterpillar will duplicate the exact folder structure of the original web page source folder, and create the new translated web pages here by combining the text segments from your translated Caterpillar text file with the source web pages. The original web pages will not be altered. This enables you to perform text integration as many times as you like, at any stage during the course of a project to see how things are progressing - you do not have to wait until everything is translated.
Finally you should select the character set signature that you wish Caterpillar to sign the translated web pages with. This signature will be read automatically by web browsers when the page is viewed to make sure the correct alphabet is used to display the web pages. The character set you choose here is determined both by the language you are translating into and the character set used by the 3rd party software you used to translate the Caterpillar text file. Caterpillar does not perform any character set conversion - it simply updates the web page signature. For most Western European languages you would select Unicode - UTF8 if you saved the Caterpillar text file with recent versions of Word or Notepad, or choose Western - Latin 1 or Western - Windows CP1252 if you used slightly older non-unicode software, such as Word'95.
Click the Integrate button at the bottom left to begin the integration process.
- You can abort the integration process at any time by pressing the Esc key (Escape).
- You can convert the character sets of web pages and text files by selecting the Encoding Converter utility on the File menu.
