Networking Tips
By setting up a global shared project folder for all Caterpillar projects on a local area network server, and mapping the same drive letter to it on all computers (e.g. X:) you can extract and integrate any project from any computer on the local area network.
When a new project is first created, permissions can be set to read access only so project source folders containing the original source web pages can not be accidently modified once extraction has taken place.
Because, for example, drive letter X: maps to the same folder from all machines, integration of a project can be carried out on whichever computer has the translated Caterpillar file.
Setting up in this way may be very useful for translation agencies.
- Please make sure good, regular backup procedures are in place for the network server drive where all the projects will be stored.
