Getting Started
To begin using FtpXQ, simply start FtpXQ (either from the Services applet in the control panel [NT or later, and must have been installed as a service], or by clicking on the icon in the start menu). Once you have started the application, you should see a listening connection in the Main Console. Once you see this entry in the listbox, FtpXQ is ready to accept new clients! FTP clients can establish a connection by connecting to the IP address or server name on port 21 (this is the default port that the server will run on, but this is configurable).
If you don't see an entry in the listbox on the Main Console, there is probably another application/server that has already opened this port. If this is the case, simply stop the other service, and change the services configuration so that it does not start automatically, and then restart FtpXQ. See the FAQs for tips on troubleshooting.
Note that in this help file, the screenshots contain hotspots for each control displayed on them. Clicking a textbox for instance, will take you to an explanation for it. The easiest way to find out about a part of a screens functionality is find the screen, and then click on the area you want to know about. Note that OK and Cancel buttons do not provide links to explanations (since they are fairly self-explanatory), but rather link you to the screen you would end up on if you had the application open and clicked on that button. Pictures of tabs also function this way.
