Duplicating Profiles

To duplicate a profile:

  1. Select the profile that you want to duplicate from the Profiles List.
  2. On the Profiles menu, click Duplicate Profile.
  3. Specify profile name for the copied profile.
  4. Click OK.

Recording Profiles

Auto FTP Manager has an recording feature incorporated in it. You can record the action you performed while working with any existing profile whether it is a Quick Connect Profile or an Automated Transfer Profile. Actions like moving, deleting and renaming etc. can be recorded. As soon as you stop the recording, a dialog will open where you can give a name for the new profile and save it. The new profile will be listed as an Automated Transfer Profile and contain the actions you had performed while the recording was going on.

Once a recorded profile is created, you can edit it, add new actions and perform other operations on it. Unlike a standard Automated Transfer Profile, it does not have Action Rules, Conflict Resolution, Filters and Include/Exclude sub-folder options in recorded profiles. Instead, you can add or edit specific actions like "Copy file name.ext from Folder 1 to Folder 2."

To create an automated profile by recording:

  1. Select any existing Quick Connect Profile or Automated Transfer Profile from the profiles' list by clicking on it.
  2. Click the File Manager button on the toolbar. Once the File Manager is open, click the green button between the views that list contents of Folder 1 and Folder 2. This button turns red to indicate that recording has started.
  3. Perform the actions you want to record such as moving, deleting, renaming files etc. Once you are done, click the red button to stop the recording.
  4. The Save Recorded Profile dialog opens. Give a name for the profile in the Enter profile name box.
  5. The You have recorded following actions for this profile list displays the details of actions that are recorded. Click the Save button to save the new profile.

The new recorded profile appears in the Automated Transfer Profile list. To edit this profile:

  1. You can right-click on recorded profile name in this list and click on Edit Profile. The Edit Profile Properties dialog opens.
  2. The General, Folder 1 and Folder 2 tabs in the dialog are same as that of other automated profiles. The Transfer tab is different in the sense that that is does not contain Action Rules etc. It displays the List of recorded actions.
  3. You can select an action from the List of recorded actions by clicking on it and then clicking the Remove button if you do not want it to be included in the profile and click Apply. Click the Add button to open the Add An Action dialog.
  4. In the Add An Action dialog, you can select the Action type you want to add as Transfer, Delete, Rename, Move, Copy or Create Folder. The Source location could be Folder 1 or Folder 2. Select file or folder on which you want to perform the action by clicking on the Browse button. Select the Destination location by clicking the Browse button for the Copy and Move actions.
  5. Click OK to exit the Add An Action dialog. You will return to the Transfer tab of the Edit Profile Properties dialog. The action you have added will be listed. Click Ok.
