Data Extractors
The data extractors screen with the defined extractor will be displayed, where you can continue defining other extractors inside any other email field by using this same method.
Click on the “Next” button to continue creating an auto reply. The screen for setting actions that will be performed by the Response Mailer and in case the conditions have been met will be displayed.
The Response Mailer application offers the possibility of extracting specific data from the incoming email, text file or database table. These data can later be used to personalize your messages or save to a database table.
Extract Data from the incoming email.
In order to start defining the email data extractor, click on the “New” button inside the “Extractors” screen. The screen for setting the data extractors’ properties will be displayed.
The following are the available parameters:
- General
Field Name – specify a name for the data that will be extracted. This will also serve as the name for the Merge Field.
Email Field – pull down menu for choosing the email field that contains the information you are looking for.
- Start of Data Field
From – pull down menu for choosing the method of locating the start of data field
Beginning of line – choose this option to indicate that the search text can only occurs at the beginning of a line in the Email Field
Specific text – choose this option to indicate that the search text can occur anywhere in a line of the Email Field.
Text – enter the text that identifies where the needed data begins
- End of Data Field
To – pull down menu for choosing the method of locating the end of data field
End of line – choose this option to indicate that the needed text stops at the end the line
Specific text – choose this option to specify the search text that indicates the end for the needed text
Text – the text that identifies where the data that is needed ends
- Advanced
Remove spaces before or after the field – choose this option to indicate that you want to remove any spaces that could come before or after the extracted field data
Use the same letter case as the above word/phrase – choose this option if you want Response Mailer to extract data only in case the same letter case is contained inside the incoming message
- Above word/phrase are regular expressions - choose this option to indicate that you want to match words/phrase using regular expressions.
Note: a regular expression is a string that describes or matches a set of strings, according to certain syntax rules
- Above word/phrase have wildcard characters – Response Mailer allows you to enter words with wildcard characters; if that is the case, choose this option to indicate that you have entered wildcards
- Include this filter when checking for messages – you can use this option to toggle between on/off status for this particular extractor
