Tips/Questions/Problems
Where do I add or change mail accounts?
Just bring up the main window (e.g. by choosing 'Show Main Window' from the system tray icon's right mouse button menu). In the main window you can add, modify and delete entries.
Does Mailbell support Yahoo mail?
Yes and no. Yahoo offers paid mail accounts and for these can be accessed via POP3. Free Yahoo accounts can only be checked from a web browser. Hence Mailbell does support paid Yahoo accounts but not Yahoo free mail.
Why does it not work with my Hotmail/MSN account?
Do you have a rather new Hotmail account? Hotmail changed policy some time last year and accounts after September can only be checked inside a web browser an not with 3rd party software.
If that's not the case, please make sure you have entered your whole email address as the user name and the correct password.
Does Mailbell support SSL?
Yes, it does. Please edit the account in the Mailbell main window and set the SSL option for IMAP or POP3 accounts.
I changed the popup color, but new mail is still shown in the old color
The popup colors are set per account. Please also change the account colors (Account Menu, Edit).
How can I have different sounds/colors for different mail accounts
Edit the account and select a text and background color for the account.
Alternately go to Options->Mail-Types and create a mail type for each account. Put your email address in the keywords field and enable search in the mail header. Then select a sound file and/or color for this type. Move the type down in the list so that it won't override your sound/color settings for important email.
What does an asterisk (*) after the file size mean?
The asterisk marks mail which has attachments.
Where can I get updates?
Please fire up your web browser and go to http://www.emtec.com
How do I order?
Please checkout the Order Form in the Help menu and/or check Ordering MailBell topic in this help file.
