Options
The Options tab is used to set when to check for new email and what to do when you have new mail.
Run Lydia when Windows starts
Enable this if you want to have Lydia run automatically each time you turn your on your computer.
Set as default mailto: program
Enable this option to set Lydia as the default program for mailto: Internet links. When you click on an email address link in a web page the default mailto: program will open a new outgoing email with the recipient's email address filled in.
Check for mail when Lydia starts
Enable this to have Lydia check for new email when the program starts.
Check for new email every ?? minutes
Enable this to have Lydia check for new email as specific intervals.
Display message when new email arrives
Enable this to have Lydia display a message showing which email accounts have new email.
Play a sound when new email arrives
Enable this to have Lydia play a sound (WAV file) when you have new email. Click the ellipse button (…) to select the sound file. Click the play button to hear the sound.
Suppress error messages while checking for new email
Enable this to keep Lydia from displaying error messages during scheduled checks for new email. This is useful if one of your email accounts is slow or troublesome.
Check for email while new email window is displayed
Enable this option to allow Lydia to continue to check for new email even when the new email notification window has been displayed. If Lydia finds new email it will update the account list in the new email notification window.
Consider messages new until message headers are viewed
Normally Lydia will consider email new only when it first arrives. Enable this option if you want new email to be considered new until you view the email message.
Retrieve message body with headers
When this option is enabled Lydia will download the body of the email message when it retrieves the headers. This speeds up viewing messages and allows quoting of the original message when replying to an email. If you have a slow connection and may want to disable this option.
Spell Check when sending email
When this option is enabled Lydia check will check the spelling of your email message before sending it.
Show detailed icon text
When this option is enabled Lydia will display the number of email messages for each account in the system tray icon text after checking for new email. When disabled Lydia will display the total number of email messages for all accounts. You can view the text by placing the mouse pointer over the system tray icon. NOTE: The icon text is limited to a maximum of 64 characters. When this option is used with a large number of accounts or accounts with long names some text may be cut off.
Always show HTML version of message if available
Enable this option to have Lydia default to displaying the HTML version of a message if there is one. When Lydia displays an email message it will search the message looking for both plain text and HTML versions of the message. If it finds a plain text version it will always display this. If no plain text version is found but an HTML version it, it will display the HTML version. See Viewing a Message.
Retrieve ?? lines of each message
This option allows you to set how much of each email Lydia should download. A smaller number will allow Lydia to download your email much quicker but may keep the lower portions of large emails from being displayed. A larger number will display more of each message but will make downloading slower for messages with large attachments. Try keeping the number at the default at first, then play with different numbers as you become accustomed to how Lydia displays messages. Note: This number indicates the number of lines of each email which is not necessarily how many lines will be displayed.
Location of your email program
Enter the path to your email program or click the ellipse button (…) to browse for the program.
Left Mouse Button Action
Select the action you want Lydia to perform when you click the left mouse button on the envelope icon in the system tray.
