Message Editor

Message Editor allows you to include templates in your message, import html files, insert tracking or unsubscribe link, and perform a myriad of functions.

Below are some functions of the message editor:

Add recipients (Required action)

  1. Click on the To... button to add recipients to whom the campaign will send messages. Recipients wizard will be displayed immediately.

  2. Select the type of the recipients by choosing one of four items.
    a) Contact List – list of recipients stored internally in the program.
    b) Query to database.
    c) Text file.
    d) Single Email – single email added manually.
    Then click Next.
  3. a) Select recipient list if Contact List is selected
    b) Select a query and the email address field if Query to database is selected. 
    Query to database is specified by a SQL query, which can return data from a database with more then one fields. Therefore in the Query to database page you must select a field from "query fields list". The email addresses will be extracted from the selected field. For more information, please see the Managing queries chapter.
    c) From Open Dialog choose text file in which there are email addresses.
    d) Enter in the email address if a Single Address is selected.
  4. Click Ok button.

Add senders (Required action)

  1. Click on the From button to specify the sender name and sender address. The next dialog will be displayed.

  1. In the text box of Subject specify subject of the message.

HTML editor

The text of the message can be edited in the special html editor.

  1. To achieve necessary formatting for the text message, you may need to use "B","I","U" buttons, and or other adjacent buttons. You can insert images and flash objects or even a whole html page from Internet or hard disk (for further editing). Any time when you edit the HTML body you can choose the View tab to preview the message or Source tab to manually change the html code.

  2. Flash objects can be inserted from Internet or hard disk by clicking on the following button Flash. The following dialog will be displayed subsequently, enter in the location of the flash movie file.
     
  3. Every recipient from the recipient list can have additional attributes, information such as Name, Age, Phone number etc.
    To insert attributes in the message body, choose needed recipient field from the Compose e-mail box orinsert it manually using the following syntax: [Fieldname].

Insert Trackink Link

The tracking option allows marketer to follow recipient actions such as email openings and hyperlink clicks..
The email opening has been tracked automatically but for hyperlink clicks tracking the special link insert is required.

  1. The menu's option "Insert -> Tracking Link" should be selected for this action. It will bring a dialog which requires to point the name and address of the link.

Insert Unsubscribe By Tracking Link

Tracking service also allows to register requests for unsubscribe actions.

  1. To active it You should choose option "Insert -> Unsubscribe Link" in the menu.
    In the text of the letter "Unsubscribe" link will appear by clicking on which a user automaticly will be removed from the campaign.

In the message's body also can be inserted link for opting the recipient out by email clicking on which user will send some "unsubscribe" letter back

  1. To invoke it You should choose "Insert -> Unsubscribe By Email Link" in the menu.

    In "TO" field will be specified the same address which has been selected in dialog box.
    Automatical proceeding letters with requests to unsubscribe can be done using software product Opt Out Manager which can be downloaded from www.lencom.com.

Insert Scripts

You can use scripts to customize the messages. The scripts must be created in the Scripts part of the program. Each script has a unique name and can be called before the message will be sent.

  1. To insert a script call in a message body click Insert -> Script from the message editor tool bar context menu. If the script returns a string value it will be inserted in place of the script name found in the message body.

  2. The script name can be inserted manually using the following syntax: {{ScriptName /ParameterName1 = ParameterValue1 …..}}. For more information related to the scripts please see Managing Scripts chapter.

Email format

FEDE supports messages in HTML and Plain-Text formats. The default format is HTML.

  1. To change the email format click Format -> Email Format from the message editor tool bar context menu.

Add attachments

  1. To add attachments in the message go to the tab Advanced.

  2. Change the HTML options according to the following:
    - If “Include Text/Plan format with HTML format for non HTML email clients” check box is checked along with html content, text plain content will be inserted in the message, enabling the non html email clients to read the message.
    - If “Load Internet resources into message” is checked, the program will embed the html resources of the html content into the message.

Once finished composing the email content, you can click on the Send button on the toolbar to launch your campaign immediately, or you can also click on the Save button on the toolbar to save your campaign to launch it later.
