FAQ

Asset Management

Q. I receive a Fatal Error ACK: Access Denied/Insufficient Privileges Error when attempting to scan a system.

A. The fully qualified account you supplied to run the services as does not have sufficient privileges to scan the system. Try using an account with privileges to scan the system.

Q. I receive a Fatal Error ACK: Managed Asset Unavailable Error when attempting to scan a system.

A. The system may be off, a firewall in place, or it does not have the Operating System component WMI installed or configured correctly on the system. Windows 2000 and XP come with WMI installed and enabled by default. For more information read User Manual: Remote System Configuration. Also read Issue: Connectivity.

Q. I receive a yellow Successful Non-Fatal Error ACK: when scanning a system.

A. If this is on a single system, generally it's because the remote system has a corrupt CIM database, or a corrupt installation of WMI.

Q. I receive a Timeout Error when attempting to scan a system.

A. You may have some network traffic connection issues in your environment. You can increase the Timeout Rate to resolve this issue. The timeout required is dependent on system data and connection speed. You can alter the timeout from the Start->Programs->Insystek->Tools->Service Options.

Q. My scheduled scans appear to be sitting inactive and will not run.

A. This is usually caused by two separate instances. First, check to make sure your Scheduler is running - you may want to restart it anyway. Next, ensure your date on the scan resembles the data on your Scheduler. If your date has not yet come to pass, it will not start until the times have either matched or lapsed.

Q. Scheduling scans are returning Successful Non-Fatal Error ACK: on all systems.

A. You may need to run regsvr32 c:\[windows]\system32\wbem\wbemdisp.dll to register the file. It may have been unregistered through the removal of an application.

Q. I receive an error when the Scheduling Service is trying to be installed or started automatically.

A. The account you're using does not have sufficient privileges to install a service on a system. If you're in a Domain, log into the system with the correct domain account, and you will also need to use a fully qualified domain account that has privileges to automatically start services in your environment.

Q. My XP systems do not show up in the Video Configuration class in the Data Viewer.

A. XP changed the standard WMI class for XP, their video information is found under the Extension Class Win32VideoControllers.

Software Distribution

Q. I receive an Unexpected Protocol Error when trying to upload a package to the Distribution Server.

A. You need to enable Write Protection on the FTP directory to have access to move the packages up.

Q. I receive an error when saving to the Package Server.

A. Ensure you have altered the settings to give Read/Write permissions on the package shared folder.

Q. I receive an Insufficient Privileges error when distributing to a remote system.

A. The account you are using does not have the rights to distribute software remotely. You will want to contact your Network Administrator to obtain the necessary rights.

Monitoring

Q. Monitoring does not appear to be working and scheduling scans are returning Successful Non-Fatal Error ACK on all systems.

A. You may need to run regsvr32 c:\[windows]\system32\wbem\wbemdisp.dll to register the file. It may have been unregistered through the removal of the previous version.

Q. The Monitor Alert level is not correct for my Custom Service monitor.

A. You need to use the exact name displayed in the Administrator Tools->Services Control Panel.

Report Wizard

Q. I receive an invalid path error when trying to open a report.

A. You need to make sure you have the report name in the database with a path, and the matching path for that .rpt file in the Reports directory.

Q. I receive a Query Engine error when editing the SQL for my own custom reports, and a blank report.

A. Query Engine error is the error returned when using improper SQL. It causes the field data and Crystal Report layout format to differ and generates the error. This creates a blank report.

Q. My XP systems do not show up in the video configuration reports.

A. XP changed the standard WMI class for XP, the video information is found under the extension class Win32VideoControllers.
