Downloading Messages

When a newsgroup is selected on the Server / Newsgroup Pane, message headers for the newsgroup are downloaded to TextAloud and displayed in the Message Header Pane. The number of message headers downloaded depends on the following parameters:

• Maximum Messages to Retrieve
• Maximum Thread Age
  

Both of these settings are located on the Miscellaneous Options panel. Messages dated earlier than the Maximum Thread Age are not downloaded, and the Maximum Messages to Retrieve limits the number of messages downloaded.

Messages for a newsgroup are downloaded automatically one time only. After the automatic download, additional messages for the newsgroup can be retrieved manually using Actions -> Download Messages, or the Download Messages button on the Toolbar.
