Testing & Configuring Software Mode
To determine if your computer will work properly in Software Mode, and to properly configure Software Mode on your PC, you will need to open the Configure Software Processing window. This window is available by clicking on the "Configure and Test..." button in the Processing Mode window.
Testing and Configuring Software Mode:

The horizontal slider in this window allows you to tailor the amount of delay between when you sing into the microphone and when the sound comes back out the speakers. Naturally you should aim for the lowest possible delay. However, if you lower the delay too much, you may experience some distortion in your audio. Therefore you must try to find the lowest delay at which you hear no distortion.
To do this, choose a delay by moving the slider to the left or the right. (You may want to start with the slider in the middle of its range.) Then, press the "Test Now!" button and sing into your microphone. If you hear distortion, press the Stop button, move the slider to the right, and then try again. If you don't hear any distortion, press the Stop button, move the slider to the left, and try again. In this way you can find the optimum setting for your particular computer. This setting will have the lowest possible delay without introducing any distortion.
If you cannot find a setting that works well, press Cancel to return to the Processing Mode window. You will need to choose Hardware Mode for your processing. Othewise, you can press OK a few times to return to the main Karaoke Sing-n-Burn interface, where you can begin recording performances!
