Windows Layout General Settings

General settings concerning the style of the Discstarter browser window and the content of your menu are available in this section:

General Settings

deleted partition recovery reset passwords laptop recovery
keystroke logger free hard disk retrieval software download keylogger freeware
download data recovery software undelete memory card files deleted photo recovery

Window type: You can choose the window type of the Discstarter browser window here. "Default" will show a window that has a minimize button, a maximize button and a close button as well as a program icon in the title bar. If you want to prevent the user from resizing the window choose the window type "Dialog". To show a completely borderless window, select "None" from the drop down menu.

Drop shadow: Adds a translucent drop shadow to the window.

Smooth fade-in: On startup, the window will be shown using a fade-in effect.

Hide scrollbars: If this option is selected, no scrollbars will be shown. This will also be the case, if the content that is displayed is larger than the actual window size. These settings have only an effect if your HTML pages are not rendered in the so called "standards-compliant mode". Detailed information on this subject can be found on the Microsoft homepage.

Default cursor: If this option is selected, the default arrow cursor will be shown if a user moves the cursor over your menu. Even when moving over sections that contain text the default cursor will be shown instead of the text selection cursor (beam cursor).

Use Discstarter also for popup windows: The latest versions of the Internet Explorer come with an integrated popup blocker. In order to prevent that popups from your menu a being blocked, you can deactivate this popup blocker by selecting this option. If a new window is opened by a JavaScript or via a hyperlink containing a target="..." attribute, a new Discstarter browser window is opened instead of a normal browser window. Please see also the chapter "Opening a website".

Do not show splash screen on exit: If you have licensed a Publishers License, this option can be used to hide the "Made with Discstarter" splash screen that is usually being shown when closing a Discstarter menu.

Context menu: This option defines the behavior of the context menu (right click on the mouse) of your CD-ROM menu. If you choose "Hide context menu", no context menu will be shown at all. The "Simple context menu" only allows copying text from your CD-ROM menu whereas "Default context menu" shows the full context menu that is provided by the Internet Explorer.
