Network Edition Overview

Placing multiple physical CD-ROM drives on a host server can be expensive and failure-prone. It can also limit the number of CDs accessible at one time. Often the largest problem is that the hardware limits a single user to a specific CD at one time, with everyone else locked out!

CD Anywhere Network Edition provides the unique ability to have multiple users access the same CD images located on a common host or server computer, at the same time. There is no limit to the number of CD images that can be stored on the host, eliminating the need for expensive CD jukeboxes and other complex contraptions! CD Anywhere does not run on a server, so it is fully compatible with all network servers which allow drive mapping. This includes Microsoft's Windows NT/2000/XP/2003, and other servers that provide mapped drive services.

This chapter is specifically for system administrators who wish to implement a Virtual CD Server using the Network Edition of CD Anywhere. Please note that you must purchase a site license with enough seats of CD Anywhere Network Edition for each of the users who will have access to images stored on your host computer.
