Installing Virtual CD Drive
The virtual CD drive is what you use to access your CD images. You can have as many virtual drives as there are drive letters available. CD Anywhere's virtual drives can be added and removed at any time, without having to reboot the system.
To install a new virtual drive, click the CD Anywhere Manager to start the process.
The Install CDROM drive dialog appears:

Choose the drive letter for the virtual drive. You can pick any letter available, as CD Anywhere will not let you overlap an existing drive letter. Several options are also available on this dialog to control the mounting of the drive.
The default will install the drive, and make it available to the current user every time the system starts up. Uncheck the option, Mount for all sessions, if you wish the drive to "disappear" when the system is shut down.
The Automount options are unimportant for the Personal edition (i.e. CD Anywhere not on a network), but are used for the Network Edition of CD Anywhere. The option, Mount drive for this user only, will create and mount the drive after the user logs onto the system. Select this option if you wish to access images on the network and local system.
The alternate option, Mount drive for all users, will create and mount the virtual drive before any user logs on. If the image is located on a network path that is established by a user logon an error will occur. This happens because the image is accessed when it is mounted and the network path is not yet there. This option is fine if you are only using images that reside on the local machine.
Click on Mount to complete the installation. The new virtual CD-ROM drive is made available immediately.
When the mount image process is complete, you can go into the CD Anywhere Manager, described in detail later in this chapter.
