Using Help/Compacting Database

Using On-line Help

TrakLoan is shipped with an extensive on-line help file. To see on-line help, use the Help | TrakLoan Help Topics menu sequence from the TrakLoan Main screen.

You can also access context-sensitive help at any point within TrakLoan by press-ing the <F1> key.

The Help menu on the Main screen also lets you access the TrakLoan Read Me page, which may contain late-breaking information not available when this manual was produced.

Information on technical support for TrakLoan is also available through the Main screen Help | Technical Support menu sequence.

Compacting the Database

Each time you delete an account from the database TrakLoan leaves some unusable space behind. Posting for the month also leaves empty space. After many postings, deletions and additions your database may grow noticeably larger. You should com- pact the database occasionally. Even if it doesn’t make your database smaller, com- pacting can speed things up.

To Compact the Database click the File | Compact Database menu sequence.

Transferring Records to TrakLoan

Once the system is set up to your satisfaction you need to transfer the information from your existing loans to TrakLoan. The best time to do this is after the final clos- ing for a year. The next best time is after you’ve closed for a month.

Enter all the information for each loan using the TrakLoan Accounts screen (Sec- tion 3.1, Page 15). When you enter the Loan Activity data, Date of Last Transaction and Date of Last Payment should be the same.
