Things to Think About...
To help insure the integrity of your TrakLoan data, there are some things you need to keep in mind:
Keeping Your Computer Clock On Time
TrakLoan depends on your computer’s ‘‘real-time” clock to keep track of dates in some of its reports.
To set the clock from the Windows screen:
- Double-click the time in the right corner of the task bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Set the date and time.
- Click the Time Zone tab and make sure the time zone is set correctly.
- Click [OK].
Backing Up
Once you begin using a computer for financial management and other tedious, calcu- lation-intensive tasks, it doesn’t take long for the data in your computer to become worth far more than the machine itself.
To avoid catastrophic data loss it’s essential to back up your data regularly ------ to tape or compact disk.
You should have several backup tapes or disks and use a systematic backup se- quence that includes the TrakLoan data file, ‘‘LoanRecords.mdb’’.
You should also make sure that you store at least some of your backup media at home or at some other off-site location. If you store all your media on-site, a fire or other catastrophe can destroy all your data as well as your equipment.
