Entering Transaction

All journal activities are carried out from the TrakLoan Main screen.

Entering a Transaction Into the Journal

  1. In the Accounts list box on the right side of the Main screen, click the loan for which you want to make a journal entry.
  2. Check or correct the date in the Transaction Date box. You can enter the date in any standard format; for example, ‘‘Jan 3, 2000’’, or ‘‘1/3/00’’. When the cursor is in a date box, you can increase or decrease the date a day at a time with the up-arrow and down-arrow keys.
  3. Enter the amount in the Transaction Amount box. You can make a disbursement to an existing account by entering a negative number.
  4. Enter a check number or other posting reference in the Check Number box. Your posting reference can be up to 10 characters long.
  5. Click [Enter].

If this is a receivable account linked to a payable (Page 16), TrakLoan will ask whether or not you want to make an automatic payment to the linked payable account. If you click [Yes] TrakLoan will enter the payment into the journal for you.

At any time, you can clear the screen and start over by clicking the [Start Over] button.
