Importing Data from Quicken
The program can import data from Quicken 98, Quicken 99 and Quicken 2000. You can export data from Quicken for Windows in several formats. One of these is the 123 (prn) disk file, or comma separated values (CSV), format. This is the format that the program uses to import trip data. Here are the steps to export your Quicken data and import into the program files:
- Create a report in Quicken of the transactions you wish to export. These should all be of one type, trip meals, lodging, or miscellaneous type, or vehicle fuel, maintenance or accessories.
- Create the report, using the customize options to limit the dates, if necessary, and the categories and accounts.
- When the transaction report shows only those items you want to export, press Print and select the 123 disk file format for output. Name the file something meaningful and put it in the program directory.
- Press OK.
- In the program, select Import Data, Quicken 98/2000 or Quicken 99, from the File menu.
- In the dialog that comes up, select the table to import into. Then select the trip or vehicle that the data is for. Then press the lookup button to select the file you wrote out in step 3.
- Press OK and the data will be imported into the program files. There will be an entry for the total, and you can delete that.
- Repeat steps 1-7 for each table and trip or vehicle that you want to import data for.
