PortfolioTK
PortfolioTK is divided up into several tabs which helps facilitate an easy-to-use and intuitive interface.
This overview will give a brief rundown of the purpose of each tab.
- Research: This is the place to do all your analytical and fundamental research. With advanced charting, built-in historical quote downloader and html quote browser, everything you need is right at your fingertips. No need to scour the internet trying to find what you’re looking for.
- Equity Charts : The equity charts tab allows you to enter you month ending broker account balance to be able to see risk characteristics of your account and how it has grown. Also graphed
is the month % change so you can see how well you did for the current and past months. And after viewing those, you can also see how your performance stacked up against the major benchmark indices; S&P 500, S&P 400, and S&P 600.
- Trades: The trades tab allows you to enter your real-time trades to see pertinent statistics on how well you selected securities. Partial position matching, as well as, support for long and short trades is all there.
- Analytics: The Analytics tab will be your first stop in seeing how well your portfolio has been performing. Portfolio Level and Modern Portfolio Theory statistics are gathered from your month ending account balance that you inputted in the Equity Charts tab. Use this information to see how you stacked up against the benchmark indices. Position Level statistics are calculated based on the trades you entered in the Trades tab.
- Performance: The performance tab contains various graphs that let you further identify the risk characteristics of your portfolio. All graphs are based on your month ending account values that you entered in the Equity Charts tab.
- Simulator (Amibroker Plugin): This is a plugin for Amibroker users. The simulator performs advanced Monte Carlo simulations on your trading strategies backtested results. Once you tried it, you won’t see how you developed robust strategies without it. (disabled by default to make the interface more intuitive; enable in the preferences menu)
It is important to note the some tabs act independent of each other. The research tab allows you to create a portfolio of symbols to do analytical and fundamental work on. However, the symbols entered into this portfolio are not part of your “Real Account.” Your “Real Account” is made up of the month ending account values entered into the Equity Charts tab and the trades entered into the Trades tab.
Your real accounts are saved by default in the folder:
PortfolioTK -> Accounts
Your Research tab portfolio’s are saved by default in the folder:
PortfolioTK -> Data -> Stock Database
It is also important to mention that the charts in the Equity Charts and the Performance tab are all based on the Month Account values filled in the Equity Charts tab’s excel grid. The charts are not updated based on the Trades entered. We have done this to make sure the statistics being calculated remain accurate.
