Portfolio Symbols
On the left side of the chart pane is a container for your current portfolio symbols (see side picture). In this container, you are able to add and remove symbols of your choosing by using the “+” and “-“ buttons at the top. Any symbols added and removed are automatically stored in the current portfolio and do not need to be saved manually.

ADDING SYMBOL

When you want to add symbols to the current portfolio, clicking the “+” will bring up the following dialog:
Multiple symbols may be entered to add to your current portfolio. All that is needed is to separate each individual entry by a comma. PortfolioTK uses Yahoo Finance as its source for quotes. Any acceptable symbol format recognized by them will download fine into PortfolioTK.
REMOVING SYMBOL

To remove a symbol, simply select the symbol you would like to remove by clicking on it to highlight, then click the “-“ button.
UPDATING QUOTES

PortfolioTK has an intelligent built-in quote downloader. This is useful for supplying historical quotes for analytical research. All quotes downloaded are stored in a local database so they can be viewed and researched while offline. The built-in quote downloader goes one step further in the way in downloads. It automatically checks for recent splits and back-adjusts all data accordingly. It also saves time by only downloading the most recent quotes since your last update. In order to use the quote downloader, simply specify the first date you would like to get historical quotes back to, then click the Update Quotes button. The progress bar on the bottom right of the charting pane marked Update Progress, will tell you when the update is complete.
OPENING MULTIPLE CHARTS
PortfolioTK allows you to open multiple security charts in new windows to let your compare prices of differing symbols side-by-side. In order to open a new chart, all that is necessary is to perform a double- click action with your mouse on the designated security symbol.
