Emergency Restore on the Same Computer
The Emeracy Restore function will restore data, files and folders to the exact same locations they came from, including matching of the source drives. It is recommended that you use the TurboBackup compression format (.tbz) for your backup so that source drives information is retained. (TurboBackup is required to perform emergency restore from .tbz backups).
- Select the task or the backup set in the task that you want to restore.
- Use the Restore/Restore All menu item to perform emergency restore.
Note: If you select a task rather than a backup set in the task to be restored, TurboBackup will restore the latest backup set in the task.
Synchronize another Computer
The Synchronize Computer function will synchronize data, files and folders to the corresponding locations on the target computer as they came from on the source computer, including matching drive letters. Your backup has to be in the TurboBackup compression format (.tbz) in order for the synchronization function to work properly. In addition, TurboBackup is required to perform synchronization task.
- Use the Restore/Restore From menu item on the target machine to select the backup file (.tbz).
- Select the Backup file to synchronize the target computer.
Note: If you select a task rather than a backup set in the task to be restored, TurboBackup will restore the latest backup set in the task. Also note that the TurboBackup restore function does not delete files on the target computer.
Restore to Original Location
To restore the backup to the previously backup location, select the task or a backup set from the task list in the left panel, click the Restore All Toolbar Icon or the Restore > Restore All menu. It will display restore overwrite options:
Replace - new files will replace existing files
Do not replace - will not overwrite an existing file under and circumstances.
Replace older files - does a date check and only overwrites if the file is older than the new one. This is done strictly by date; internal version information (if any) is not considered.
Note: If you select a task rather than a backup set in the task to be restored, TurboBackup will restore the latest backup set in the task.
Restore/Partial Restore to Alternate Location
To restore files in a backup to different destination folder(s), use the Restore > Restore Wizard menu. It opens the Restore Wizard, which lists all items inside the backup. You can select the items you want to restore. If nothing is selected, TurboBackup will treat it as Select All. Click the Next button to select the destination folder. Enter or browse for a folder to restore the files. If you enter a folder path that does not already exist, TurboBackup will create it for you.
Enter decryption code (if necessary) - if file(s) within the backup are encrypted (password protected), you can enter the decryption code in the space provided and check off the Use this code for all files option box to use this code for all files. If no code is entered and the file is encrypted, you will be prompted for each file that requires a password, with the option to skip the file or apply the password to all files.
Click on Restore to restore all or the selected files. You will be prompted for Overwrite options.

Extract and Extract All
This option is only available to extracting files and folders from backups created with the Zip compression. Use the Restore/Extract menu item to extract selected items inside the backup or use the Restore/Extract All menu item to extract all items inside the backup. Either action opens the Extract Wizard where you can enter or browse for a folder to put the extracted files. If you enter a folder that does not already exist, TurboBackup will create it for you.
- Multiple-volume on hard drive - click this button to indicate that the backup file is a Multiple-Volume compressed file.
- Enter decryption code (if necessary) - if file(s) within the backup are encrypted (password protected), you can enter the decryption code in the space provided and check off the Use this code for all files option box to use this code for all files.
- Options - click this button to access the Extract option window, for overwrite and other extraction options, if checking the state of these options is necessary.
Changes you may make through the Options button apply to this archive only. To make global changes that will apply to all TurboBackup extractions, select the Restore/Default Extract Options menu item to make the changes.

Extraction Options
You can edit default Extraction Options using the Tools > Default Options menu, and select the Extraction Options page.
Overwrite options - when TurboBackup extracts files into an existing folder that already contains files, one of the following conditions can apply if a file with the same name already exists.
Overwrite all - new files will replace existing files
Do not overwrite - will not overwrite an existing file under and circumstances.
Overwrite older files - does a date check and only overwrites if the file is older than the new one. This is done strictly by date; internal version information (if any) is not considered.
Prompt - gives you the opportunity to decide on each file before it overwrites an existing file.
Automatically rename - (see Automatic rename mask, below)
Automatic rename mask
Enter %f for File Name, %n for copy number
If you choose to automatically rename files instead of overwriting them (see Overwrite Options, above), you can tell TurboBackup what method to use to rename it. With sample.txt as an example, the default entry of %f (%n) would rename a replacement sample.txt file as sample (1).txt
Extraction options - choose any of the following options to apply when TurboBackup is extracting files.
Restore path names - if path (folder information) is stored within the archive, TurboBackup will restore it during extraction.
Automatically skip files when errors occur - corrupted files (those with bad crc, an internal file checking mechanism) or those of unknown compression formats will be skipped. If a file is skipped, you will receive a notification message.
Restore from Remote Server
There is no real difference between restore from remote backup server and local restore other than having to download the backup first. For restoring .zip and .tbz Backup files, TurboBackup first downloads the backup file to the temporary folder and then extract and restore it. You need to ensure there is ample free space on your local computer for the download file and for the temporary space needed for the extraction. For restoring Duplicate Files and Folders, no temporary files are used.
