Manage Disk Storage Usage

You can use the Tools/Default Options menu on the Program Options page to locate and change where program data files are saved and compression Temp folder is located. If you have limited free space on the default drive, it is recommended that you relocate these files to another drive with more free space. If you compress your backup, it may require at least comparable free space in order to perform the compression operation. If there is not enough free space, you will encounter the "disk is full" error message. You can use any of the following options to overcome this problem:

  • Use the Duplicate Files and Folders option without compression instead.
  • Relocate the Temp folder to another drive that has more free space.
  • Use the Multiple Volume option to break up your backup into several parts, each is smaller in size.

Note: The largest possible single file size for a FAT32 drive is 4GB minus 2 bytes. For backup size larger than 4GB, it is only possible on NTFS drive.

You can also choose not to create a catalog entry, or no log file or create only the summary log file. This can be set in the Tools > Default Options menu and can be changed for individual backup tasks by clicking the Options button on the last Backup wizard page. Check off the Do not create a catalog entry option to not create the catalog entry in the left panel. You can also select either None or Summary backup log to save disk space. Alternatively, you can reloacate these files to another drive with more free space using the Tools/Default Options menu on the Program Options page.
