ISO File Name Limitations

TurboBackup follows ISO 9660 standard when backing up files and data to DVD/CD. ISO 9660 standard has certain file name limitations. When TurboBack encounters file names that do not comply with ISO 9660 standard, it will skip copying those files and folders and note it in the log file. TurboBackup will alert you about files to be skipped. You have the option to rename those files and restart your backup or just skip them. You also have the option to use either compressed backup formats, i.e. .zip or .tbz, as there is no limitations on the internal file names within a compressed backup.

No Semicolon

ISO 9660 standard does not accept file names containing semicolon (;).

Total path and file name up to 128 bytes

ISO 9660 standard only accepts total path and file name up to 128 characters (or 64 double byte characters) in length. This means the total number of characters of the path (folder name and subfolder names) and file name cannot exceed the above limitation.
