Burn DVD/CD Options
TurboBackup offers you the option of using Simplified CD/DVD Interface, which skips the Create Data CD/DVD dialog. When the Simplified DVD/CD Interface option is selected in the Tools menu, TurboBackup will use the default burner drive and the default or existing Burn CD/DVD options; when Simplified CD/DVD Interface is not selected, the Create Data CD/DVD dialog will be displayed for you to select additional options and enter desired information.
Create Data CD/DVD dialog:
- The Create Data CD/DVD dialog will list available CD/DVD burner drives. Select the one you want to burn to and media information will be displayed in the middle box.
- There is a drop down box listed available writing speed. You can click on the down arrow and select the desired writing speed that is applicable to your drive and media.
- You also have the option to check off UDF Bridge, Finalize, and Include all previous sessions boxes (see Note 1 below).
- The disc will be ejected if the Eject after burning box is checked off. (The disc will not be ejected if you use the Silent mode.)
- If you start a new disc, you have the option to enter a volume name (up to 16 characters). If you want to create a bootable disc, enter the path for the boot image file.
- There are three space indicator lines at the top of the dialog: Backup File Size (black), Available Space (blue), and Disc Capacity (Red). The same information, Backup Size/Available space/Disc Capacity, is also displayed at the bottom of the dialog in numbers. If there is adequate space, click on the Burn button to start the burning process. If not, insert a new disc and click the Refresh button to start over. Uncheck the Include all previous sessions option when a new disc is inserted.
Edit Backup
To change the backup file name, folder, and options, click on the Wizard Toolbar Icon or use the Backup/Backup Wizard menu to edit the task script file. You can also rename a task or remove a task.
Note 1: Multiple Sessions for Data
All files are written to DVD/CD as continuous tracks along with Table of Contents (TOC) which defines files in the tracks. Together, those files with the TOC form a Session. If there are more spaces left in the disc, you can write another session to the disc. It doesn't matter the files exist on the DVD/CD or not. The new TOC will link back to the previous TOC to form a single DVD/CD.
If you can add more sessions to a disc, we call this disc "open". To finalize a disc will prevent adding more sessions to the disc.
For multiple sessions disc, you have to consider the space lost due to multiple TOC created. You lose about 23 MB of space when the first session is closed. For each additional session, you will lose another 14 MB for each additional TOC.
Note 2: Erase
For DVD (+ and -) RW/CD-RW, you can erase the contents and record new sessions. Because the way recording is done, you cannot erase individual files or sessions. Press the Erase button will erase the whole DVD/CD.
