Backup Management

Backup Information

TurboBackup offers you comprehensive sets of tools for managing your Backup. You can manage your backup tasks and catalogs by right clicking the selected task or catalog in the task and catalog listing pane on the left of the main program window. In addition, you can manage your Backup through the Backup Summary, Backup History, and Backup Log tabs at the bottom of the main program window.

Backup Summary - Select the Backup Summary tab at the bottom of the main program window to see a summary of your Backup with detailed imformation about your backups. You can sort each column as well as drag the column heading tab to rearrange the information display. You can also right click a selected task in the Backup Summary pane to reset it (used to reset and restart differential and incremental backups).

Backup History - Select the Backup History tab at the bottom of the main program window to see the history of your Backup with detailed imformation about your backups. You can sort each column as well as drag the column heading tab to rearrange the information display. You can also right click a task in the Backup History pane to clear history or refresh it.

Backup Log - Select the Backup Log tab at the bottom of the main program window to see the list of your backups. Select a backup and you will see the log of the selected backup. You can sort each column as well as drag the column heading tab to rearrange the information display. You can right click in the right part of the Backup Log pane to save it, clear it, or refresh it.

Remove Task

Select the task you want to remove, click on the Remove Toolbar Icon Remove Task or right click the selected task from the list and select Remove Task in the right click menu. Removing Task will remove the task from the list but will not delete the actual backup file from your storage.

Remove Catalog

Select the catalog you want to remove, click on the Remove Toolbar Icon Remove catalog or right click the selected catalog from the list and select Remove Catalog in the right click menu. Removing catalog will remove the catalog from the list but will not delete the actual backup file from your storage.

Delete Backup File

Select the catalog item of the Backup Set you want to delete, click on the Delete Toolbar Icon Delete backup file or right click the selected catalog from the list and select Delete File in the right click menu. Deleting File will remove the catalog and delete the actual backup file from your storage.

Reset Task

Select the task you want to reset in the Backup Summary pane at the bottom of the main program window. Right click and select Reset to remove the catalogs under the task and also clear the log information for the task. For differential or incremental backup task, the Reset action will start it over with a clean slate. No change will be made in Backup History.

Clear Backup History

Click the Backup History tab at the bottom of the main program window, right click the backup that you want to clear its backup history. Select Clear from the right click menu to clear the Backup History of that item.

Delete Backup Log

Click the Backup Log tab at the bottom of the main program window, and select the backup that you want to clear its backup log. Right click in the right display pane of the Backup Log tab and select Clear All to delete the log file of the selected backup. You can also set in Log Options to clear the log before starting the backup again.

Import Task Script

You can import additional task script and add it to the task list in the left panel by using the Backup > Import menu to display the Open File dialog. Select the script file you want to import and continue with the wizard.

Hide Tray Icon

When the TurboBackup Tray Icon is displayed in the system tray (next to the clock), you can right click Tray Icon and select Exit in the right click menu to hide it. You can turn it on and off by checking off the Stay in Tray option box in the Tools/Default Options menu on the Program Options page. When the Tray Icon is hidden, scheduled tasks will still run but in the background.
