Backup Settings

This topic describes the Transaction Log Shipping wizard page for specifying the locations and file names for your transaction log backups, and for managing existing backup files.

Backup Settings

Backup location

A default folder for the transaction log backups is displayed; the file names will be generated automatically. To change the folder, type the new path or click Specify Folder and specify the folder using the file browser.

Data Doctor Recovery Windows FAT Data salvage utilities recovers lost files
recover digital camera data Data repair software tool file recovery software download
data restoration tool data recovery software download Best file recovery software

Note that if you specify a network share as the backup file location, the SQL Backup Manager Service 'log on' user must have Full permissions to access the location. see Using Network Shares with SQL Backup Manager

Select the Overwrite existing backup files of the same name check box if you want to overwrite any files that exist with the path name you specified for the backup file or files. Note that if a file of the same name exists already and you have not chosen to overwrite it, the backup will fail.

Select the Delete existing backup files in this folder for the selected database check box if you want SQL Backup Manager to delete backups of the selected databases that exist in the destination backup folders. In All files older than, type or select the age (in days or hours) of the files that you want to delete.

To compress the backup, select the Use data compression check box and select the compression level by moving the slider. For more information about compression levels, see Compression Levels.

To encrypt the backup, select the Use data encryption check box, then type a password for the backup in Password, and again in Confirm password.

On completion

If you want to receive an email if an error occurs during the backup process, select Send email notification on failure, and enter the email address. This option is available only if you have entered your email settings.
