Wizard for Switching to Service Mode

Switch to Service Wizard is intended for switching Handy Backup Pro from process to service mode. When you run Handy Backup Pro in process mode, you have the certain set of items and settings. When switching to service mode you will have another set of items. You should migrate your items, if you wish they were accessible in service mode. The set of migrated items is the copy of original items. Switch to Service Wizard simplifies the procedure of items migration.

To switch Handy Backup Pro agent to run in service mode click the "Settings" button Settings, and on the displayed "General Settings" tab mark "Run agent as service" checkbox and click "Apply". Switch to Service Wizard will be initiated.

Migration Options

Here you should specify whether to import your items and settings, or not. By default they will be imported.

Press "Next" button to continue.

Account for Service

Here you should specify the account under which the service will be started. Select either

Local System account, or
This account.

If you select "This account", you should specify your username and password. Your account can be either network, or local. Account name should have "domain\username" format. If you specify only username, domain information will be taken from the last successful logon.

Client Authentication

Here you should specify the password for Handy Backup Pro authorization on the agent. Once a service is started, it works until either it is stopped, or the computer is shut down. In this case password for client authentication is required for security.

  • Current password: This box is displayed in the case you have already run Handy Backup Pro in service mode and set a password for Handy Backup Pro authorization. Here you should enter your password for Handy Backup Pro authorization when running as service the last time.
  • New password: If you run Handy Backup Pro in service mode the first time, you should set a password for Handy Backup Pro authorization on the agent. If you have already run Handy Backup Pro in service mode, you can change the password for Handy Backup Pro authorization.
  • Confirm password: Here you should confirm your new password for Handy Backup Pro authorization.

Press "Finish" button to complete switching to service mode.

If switching to service mode has completed successfully, Handy Backup Pro icon Handy Backup Pro disappears from the system tray.

Note: Handy Backup Pro supports a single-user mode when running as service. It means that only a single user on a computer can initiate running Handy Backup Pro agent as service. If there is the need to migrate items of other users on the same computer, this migration should be done manually. Handy Backup Pro allows saving program settings, items and registration status to a special file (with the extension .hbc). Each user should export configuration under his account before Handy Backup Pro agent is run in service mode. After the certain user switches Handy Backup Pro agent to run in service mode, he can import configurations of other users (their .hbc files) to the service configuration.
