Compression and Encryption
At this step you set compression and encryption parameters.

Choose compression type from the following options.
- No compression: All files will be backed up "as is", i.e., without compression.
- ZIP compression (single file): Creates a single ZIP file with all your data. Note that the whole archive size should not exceed 2 GB.
When you use compression into a single ZIP file and backup onto several CDs (i.e. when you use disc spanning), archive names will remain unique. For instance, if you specify "MUSIC.zip" for the archive name, Handy Backup Pro will create files named "MUSIC(XXXX).zip" on different discs, where X is a hexadecimal digit and XXXX is span number for a disc.
- ZIP compression (multiple files): Compresses every file to a separate ZIP archive. Note that the size of each individual compressed file should not exceed 2 GB.
Tip: Use compression into multiple files:
if you will need to restore only selected files (this is impossible in case of compression into single ZIP file);
if you need to perform incremental backup;
if you use option "Delete all files from destination except being backed up" (it can not be applied to the single ZIP mode).
Data protection: You can protect your data either with blowfish-encrypted method, or by creating password-protected ZIP archive.
Blowfish-encrypted method is a built-in highly secure 128-bit encryption algorithm. Follow the steps below to use blowfish-encrypted method.
- Method: Select "Blowfish encryption".
- Password: Type a password.
- Confirm password: Re-enter your password to make sure that you typed it correctly.
Note: If you encrypt your files with blowfish method, you will be able to extract them only with Handy Backup Pro.
Password-protected ZIP archive
To create a password-protected ZIP archive select ZIP compression type in "Choose compression type" group box.
- Method: Select "Standard ZIP password".
- Password: Type a password.
- Confirm password: Re-enter your password to make sure that you typed it correctly.
If you create a password-protected ZIP archive, you will be able to extract data from this archive using any ZIP client as well as Handy Backup Pro.
ZIP archive name: Here you can edit the default name for your ZIP archive (if you chose compression into a single ZIP file).
Note: Single ZIP archive name is not changed automatically after you have changed the item name.
Compression quality: Choose compression quality for your data. The higher compression quality is, the greater ratio will be achieved, however this will require more time.
