Advanced Mode

  • Coolsoft DVD Ripper has the Devices and Advanced modes to set an output format for the processed video.
  • The Advanced mode lets you set an output format and a preset for the format. You can use one of ready-made presets; or change an existing preset and use it; or create, save and use your own presets.
  • Click the Advanced tab to switch to the Advanced mode for output formats.

The upper drop-down menu provides a list of output formats.

Output Format

The lower drop-down menu provides the list of ready-made presets for every format. A preset is a set of values automatically assigned to the format.

Format

Presets can be modified or created, saved and added to the lists of existing presets.

The Advanced Settings window consists of 2 panes: Output format and format settings.

The output format pane allows you to set a Video or Audio format with codec to compress your video and audio.

Codecs serve two purposes: they tell your computer how to encode (or compress) a video file when you save the file, and they tell your computer how to decode (or play) the file when you open the file. Since the same codec is used for both compressing and playing the file, the choice of which codec to use is extremely important. If the codec you use to compress your file is not installed on the user's computer, your user will not be able to play the video.
