Q001. I want to use my laptop as a voice recording device as I take notes on it in class. Will this software allow me to do that ; i.e record 3 hour lectures? How much of my hard drive will each such lecture take up?
A.The Atropos will be usefull for you. Atropos can compress recorded sounds, so it is not need much room on your hard drive. For example, with MPEG-Layer 3 compression and buffer size 50 Mb you can record about 7.3 hours, GSM compression buffer size and 50 Mb buffer - total recording time about 8.5 hours.
Q002. Is there a possibility for Atropos to recognize the called number and add it automatically in the data base?
A. There is special plug-in to Atropos-SB to recognize the called number.
Q003: How about mp3?
A. Atropos-SB can record audio, using MP3 codec. It is possible if corresponding codec is installed in your system. This feature turns on in "Settings > Storage > Packing Parameters: > Method".
Q004. Please advise me whether Windows able to configure several sound cards in one PC without any conflicts???
A. Tip to installation two or more sound card: to avoid drivers conflict use different sound card models from different developers. Usually, it is enough to install two sound card to recording four channels. In this case you will need to connect speaker out of two modems to the left and rigth channel of the sound card line input.
Q005. When we first on S/W it shown only one sound card, but actually we installed 6 sound card and all card recognice by NT.4 Windows O/S. What is happend?
A. It is possible if you set more channels than yor incorrect message only. For example, you set 16 channels, but you PC have 6 cards for 12 channels only. Just set 12 channels in Settings window, save config and restart Atropos. This message will disappear.
Q006. All channels in Atropos-SB can not record or play but when we record by Windows Sound Recorder it works well.
A. Set different sound cards for each pairs of channels. For example,
VIBRA 128 Record for 1-2 channels,
Advance AC97 WaveIn for 3-4,
............
SB Live! for 11-12.
* Set for each card valid sound source in corresponding "Record Control" panel ("Settings > Recording > Source Button" from Atropos or "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" from Windows Control Panel).
Q007. Keep the Buffer records in C or D partition,which way is better?
There are no differences. Keep the buffer where you want.
Q008. Change the Buffer parameters will delete the all records?
Yes, all records in the database will be deleted. If you want to change the buffer size and keep recorded data you can store this data in backup.
Q009. Is it possible to set buffer auto overwrite after XX days?
This feature works automatically. Our program use circular buffer: the newest resords rewrite the oldest.
Q010. I always loose my last recording every day as soon as I record new calls the next day.
This is not error, this is feature. All the phone calls records to circle buffer and when buffer filled up the new record will be written from the beginning of the buffer. Thus, the old records will be overwritten. If you want to save ALL you records you should use backup, manual or automatic.
Q011. Can Atropos-SB be used as a 24 hours program logger and cont. recording up to 90 days?
Yes, it can, If you have enough HDD for this. 1 day = 70-80 MB (by using GSM or MP3 codec).
