Using WebShifter in Network (LAN)
If you have a local area network (LAN) at home and you can access WebShifter from another PC.
To do so, you need to make sure that the PC WebShifter is running on, complies with the following:
- The PC must always have have the same IP address. You can manually specify an IP address in the network settings of your PC or if you use DHCP in your network, the DHCP server should always assign the same IP address to the WebShifter PC (please check the documentation of your DHCP server how to do this)
- Any firewall running on the WebShifter PC must allow access to the port WebShifter is running on. If a firewall blocks this port, you can not access WebShifter from a PC in your LAN
Once you made sure your WebShifter PC complies with the above, determine the IP address of your WebShifter PC.
You can do this by starting the command prompt (Start > Run > cmd) and running ipconfig
This will show the current IP address.
You can now access WebShifter from another PC with your web browser by surfing to http://<ip>:<port> where <ip> is the WebShifter PC IP address and <port> is the port that WebShifter is running on. |
