How it Works?
Sight Reading Studio will generate a random melody based on the note range and rhythmic patterns that you have selected. You must play the melody back on a midi keyboard. The program will evaluate the accuracy of your response and mark each note as you play them. Each response will be marked with the appropriate evaluation code. For example, if the note is too high you will see a plus sign. If it is too low you will see a minus sign. Below you will find a table for the possible error code combinations.

In addition to the pitch and duration of each note, the program will track the tempo of each measure played. A running tally of fast and slow measures will be kept in the scoreboard.

Notice the Slow alert next to the “Response Time” field. The pervious measure was allocated 155 units to be played but the user responded in 816 units. The measure was played to slow! The same happens when the users plays a measure too fast. This feature will help you to diagnose your rhythm problems and fix them. The tempo results will also be spoken by the computer if it is turned on.
After you complete a measure the program will automatically play a new melody. You must play the melody in real time one key press for each note. If you make a mistake just keep going. Remember the program will evaluate the overall accuracy of the completed measure.
