How to Launch Program
There are several ways to launch ArtSong™:
- Double-click on the ArtSong™ desktop icon.
- Right-click on the ArtSong™ desktop icon and select the ‘Open’ option from the popup menu.
- Navigate to ArtSong™ from the Taskbar Start menu.
- (Win 98/ME/2000) Start -> Programs -> ArtSong6
- (Win XP) Start->All Programs -> ArtSong6
- Double-click on an ArtSong™ *.apr project file.
How to Create a New Composition Project
There are several basic ways to start a composition project; each provides different options for setting up composition properties. Regardless of the initial method used to create a composition all settings can be edited at a latter time.
- Create new default composition. – This creates a default composition project with a default number of empty tracks.
- Click on the ‘New Composition’ Button from the resource toolbar on the left side of the Main Screen.
- Select the New menu item from the Main Windows File menu. (CTRL + N)
- Create new blank composition . – This also creates a default composition project with a default number of empty tracks.
- Select ‘Import Template’ Button from the resource toolbar on the left side of the Main Screen.
- Select ‘Types’ tab from the Composition Components Dialog
- Select ‘Composition’ and click on OK button.
How to Create New Project from Template
ArtSong™ template files are essentially project files stored in the Templates folder in the ArtSong application folder. Saving project files to the Templates folder can create new Templates.

To create a new template based project:

Select ‘Import Template’ Button from the resource toolbar on the left side of the Main Screen.

Select the Project Templates tab.

Select one of the available templates and click on OK.

How to Load Project from File
There are several ways files can be opened in ArtSong,
- Dragging and dropping a MIDI or ArtSong project file (*.apr) into the ArtSong workspace,
- Selecting the ‘Open’ or ‘Reopen’ menu items from the Main Window Project Menu
- Clicking the ‘Open’ tool button on the resource toolbar.
Clicking either the tool button or the associated menu item will open a File Open Dialog allowing you to specify file.
Select the type of file to open using the ‘Files of Type’ drop down list box at the bottom of the dialog window. ArtSong™ can open MIDI (*.mid) and ArtSong™ Project files (*.apr).
Select the File to open and click on the Open button.
MIDI files are automatically converted to ArtSong project files when they are loaded.
