MIDI Device
Currently ArtSong supports only MIDI input/output via the included MIDI device manager. Capabilities of ArtSong’s MIDI device manager include support for multiple MIDI output devices and ability to record MIDI inputs.
Open the MIDI Device Manager from the Main Windows Devices Menu:
Devices -> MIDI ->Device Options...

|
Select a Default MIDI output device from the ‘Output’ tab.
By default, MIDI output is directed to the defined default MIDI output device.
Individual Tracks can still direct their MIDI output to an alternative output device.
|

|
Select a Default MIDI input device from the ‘Input’ tab.
ArtSong will use the input from the selected input device during recording
|

|
The ‘Settings’ tab is used to define a MIDI channel and patch to use for the ‘Audition’ function.
The Load button can be used to load alternate patch definition files, by default General MIDI patch names are used.
|
MIDI Instrument
Each ArtSong component containing MIDI output-able data also has a MIDI instrument. Open a component’s MIDI Instrument Editor by selecting the 'Instrument…’ menu item from a component pane’s popup menu.

Use the top drop-down list box to redirect the MIDI output to a device other than the default.
Please NOTE that different MIDI devices often have different performance characteristics and may not synchronize together. This option is primarily for MIDI output devices that have multiple inputs.
Use the drop-down list boxes below the device drop down to set the MIDI channel and patch for this particular instrument. Currently ArtSong is configured to use the General MIDI patch list – however you can create and load a custom patch list from the MIDI Device Settings window.
Please NOTE that if you have multiple instruments on the same MIDI channel, the Patch, Solo, and Mute functions will be determined by the settings on the last instrument.
