ArtSong Workspace

The ArtSong workspace is where you will define, setup, edit, manipulate, etc. the components contained in your composition project.

The ArtSong workspace consists of the Main Application Window, composition resource editors, various project editor windows (or views), and each project’s associated component and component-event editor windows.

Every open composition project will have at least one editor that is opened when the project is first created. Several composition projects can be open simultaneously and each project may have several open editors.

The Main Application Window is shown below with one open project editor window. Key areas of the Main Window are labeled:

ArtSong Workspace

Compose - Click to algorithmically compose the current project from the specified start-time to end-time.

Resource Toolbar – The buttons on the toolbar provide access to frequently used commands such as creating new projects, importing project templates, opening/saving project files, defining new chord and scales, etc. Most of these commands can also be accessed through the Main Window’s pull-down menu directly above the toolbar.

Algorithms Palette - Tabbed Pages of available composition algorithms.

Project Editors – Project editor windows contain the composition project components and provide access to their property editors.

Transport Toolbar – Contains the tool buttons for playing, recording, setting tempo, displaying current playing position, etc.
