Network Monitoring Settings

This section of the program's settings configures the background monitoring, which returns device status (active, inactive) in real-time, and maintain log of devices and services operation, notify of devices starting and stopping.

Monitoring settings include the following parameters:

drive recovery program hard disk file recovery memory card data recovery
file undelete software freeware undelete download free windows data recovery
digital picture restore ipod data recovery mobile phone investigation
  • Background monitoring turns on when you select the option Monitoring is turned on. When you deselect this option, monitoring stops. In this case you can run the ping process manually by opening the "Service | Recheck devices" item on the main menu (the hotkey F6).
  • Interval between checks for each device (in seconds) - default period of time, in which the program starts querying devices again. The recommended value is 60 seconds. Depending on the results (whether it responds or not), the program assigns special icon to each device and produces notifications. You can reassign checking intervals for all devices by pressing the Apply to all devices button.
  • Maximal checking threads count - the amount of program threads which check devices simultaneously. Avoid rising this parameter too much. This can slow down your computer. The recommended value is 25 threads or less. Consider fact that Windows XP SP2 does not allow making TCP connections to more than 10 different addresses per 10 seconds (excessive threads are slowed down by the system). ICMP ping is not affected by this restriction although.
  • Process priority - priority, which a background ping process gets when sharing system resources. The recommended value is Normal.
